Due to the unpredictable nature of life and our inability to escape from traumatic incidents. It behooves us to learn this simple technique as a "first aid" for emotional trauma.
I find that it is most beneficial when I use it with the simple intention of just being with whatever feelings or thoughts are arising. This alone is significant enough to shift the emotional state from powerless to empowered. Of course, for more complex issues one can work with as much specific detail as necessary to clear any emotional states that are problematic.
